Mitch Chronister joined the Arizona office of ESG Professional Accountants in July 2023.  Mitch started his career with the world’s largest public accounting firm in their tax department.  He quickly was promoted to Tax Manager working with a variety of businesses.  From there Mitch was the Tax Manager for an international real state development and construction company based in Japan and was responsible for preparation of the federal and state income tax returns for four large healthcare providers in California, Nevada, and Arizona.

For the next seven years Mitch served as a Senior Tax Manager and Tax Partner in the Phoenix, Arizona office of a National CPA firm; followed by three years as a Tax Partner with an CPA firm serving closely held companies based in Arizona.

Mitch then served as interim chief financial officer for an air ambulance company to prepare the company for a merger.  The goal was to clean up any messes, and remove any items of high risk, and improve the profitability of the company to achieve a target sales value. In nine months, the merger transaction was closed and the shareholders received cash consideration that exceeded the target value.

Following the successful completion of the sale of the air-ambulance business, Mitch formed his own CPA firm that specialized in assisting small business owners maximize the value of successful merger or acquisition transactions.

Mitch has provided M&A guidance on more than a dozen transactions with a combined transaction value of more than $400 million.  He helped the sellers realize an increase in excess of $40 million in value through his tax expertise and guidance.

Mitch received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Brigham Young University.  Mitch holds a CPA Certificate (inactive – previously licensed in California and Arizona).
