Gary Kaufman has served as the CEO of ESG Professional Accountants since January 2017. He has over 30 years of experience in accounting, tax and financial management. Gary started his career in public accounting with McGladrey & Pullen (now RSM) where he spent nine years working both in the assurance and tax departments where he focused on manufacturing, distributors, auto dealers, trucking and service industries. He provided assurance services related to these industries as well as the preparation and review of the associated tax returns for the business entities and individual business owners.
After his time in public accounting Gary served as a CFO and/of controller for several organizations including companies in the manufacturing, distribution, service, and health care industries. During his career he has served in various capacities, including contract negotiations and due diligence lead, in over 15 successful acquisitions. As the CFO for an ESOP organization Gary was the government relations leader for the state chapter at the local and national level. Gary has also served on several other non-profit boards in various capacities.
All his prior experiences led him to acquire ESG. Gary’s passion is around helping small businesses and their owners obtain the services they deserve/need and that has led to adding tax, payroll, and human resource services for our clients since the acquisition in 2017.
Gary received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa. Gary holds a CPA Certificate (inactive) and is an Enrolled Agent as issued by the Department of the Treasury.
